Abstract

The article analyzes domestic and foreign experience in victimological crime prevention. Also, the article, within the framework of the science of criminology, sets the task of a comprehensive study of the various aspects of the victim and examines opinions regarding the fact that without a victim, there cannot be a criminal act. The author expresses the opinion that any criminal act can cause specific (material, social, physical, mental, spiritual, direct, indirect, etc.) harm to the victim, and various objects or holders of socially significant interests protected by law may suffer from violations. The article also mentions the main goal of studying criminal victimology: the need to determine and study the role and significance of crimes and victims in the occurrence of these situations and their “contribution” to the emergence and development of a criminal situation. In addition, it is emphasized that the cause-and-effect relationship between the characteristics and behavior of an individual, dictating the tendency to become a victim of a crime, and social action is probabilistic. In the article, it is said that when working preventively with victims, it is very important to always take into account their condition at the time of the crime so that they do not make mistakes when giving evidence.
